With all that said, there is no doubt that optimizing your gear can improve performance. I would provide the following as important points to bear in mind from a gearing perspective in approximate order of importance. For all classes - augment your gear as soon as you can afford to do so. See below for more details. In my opinion, anything above Going slightly over is okay, though. You want plenty of critical and alacrity for all classes.
You get a lot of mastery and power anyway. After accuracy, the only decisions should generally be how you balance critical and alacrity. Be aware of how alacrity affects your GCD.
Some players with latency issues also find a few hundred extra alacrity points helps offset the lag by providing a buffer within their GCD window. That said, for the majority of classes and players it is optimal to try and be just above the breakpoints for a 1.
The amount of points in alacrity needed to hit a GCD "breakpoint" varies depending on the discipline and your guild's perks. As of 6. Do not equip augments or enhancements for defense. You will get a lot of defense as a secondary stat anyway. You need plenty of shield and absorb. The exact mix to be optimal varies by class and by boss fight. The difference between unlettered and B mods is the mix of stats, where unlettered provide greater primary stat mastery and secondary stat defense for tanks , and less endurance, whereas B mods have slightly less mastery and significantly less defense in exchange for significantly more endurance.
For tanks, the greater HP pool is typically worthwhile given the minimal impact of slightly less defense. A less common but still sometimes strategy is to add endurance augments. I read the description in game of course and looked round, but Im not sure how it translates into actual usage when I use an ability. Maybe Im just being stupid, its possible, but, I have never truly understood power. And I fear that lack of understanding may be making my characters weaker than they need to be. Makes me feel like I'm tidying up the Galaxy. Darth Marr made that little session seem like a picnic!
Equeliber I am going to quote Oofalong's Annihilation guide that has a nice explanation to your question. I will give you an example: Advanced Lethal Mod 43 this is the best piece out there for rating. Stats: Mastery, Endurance, Power.
So in your case question would be why not take the 2nd over the 1st. It has more mastery. The thing is, it is not really about mastery or power in this case. And that will be like that pretty much always. Saelinne Quote: Originally Posted by Torvai. Secondly, you need to be in tank stance while having a shield equipped in order to shield. Even if you have one equipped. No matter which spec or gear or stats you have, if you're not both in tank stance and have a shield equipped you can't shield, and therefore absorb, incoming attacks.

For Force Users, Force power will increase the damage or healing done by Force abilities. For Tech users, Tech power will increase the damage or healing done by Tech abilities.
Neither stat will help with melee or ranged abilities. Power increases your bonus damage or healing for all abilities. Mastery increases your bonus damage or healing, and also increases your Critical Chance, for all abilities.
